Introduction

Thank you for choosing Narrative Path. This Privacy Policy describes how the application handles your information and respects your privacy. Narrative Path is designed to prioritize local storage, user control, and data minimization.

Local-Only Functionality

• Offline by Default: Narrative Path operates entirely on your Mac. It does not access the internet unless optional features are enabled.
• No Data Collection: The app does not transmit personal data, usage statistics, or analytics to any server.
• Local Document Storage: All stories and configurations are saved to your local device in .narrator format unless you choose to store them using iCloud or another file provider.

Author Name Defaults

By default, the app uses your macOS system user name as the "Author" name when exporting a story (e.g., in metadata or file headers). You may override this on a per-story basis or configure a default pen name globally in the app’s Preferences.

This information is stored locally and is only included in exported files if you choose to publish or share them.

Optional Internet Features

Narrative Path includes optional integrations that may use network access, such as:

• ElevenLabs API: For speech synthesis, if enabled by the user.

If you use a third-party feature:

• You must provide your own API key or credentials.
• All communication happens directly between your device and the third-party service.
• No credentials or data are collected or shared by Narrative Path.

Use of these services is governed by their respective privacy policies. You are responsible for reviewing those separately.

iCloud and Third-Party Storage

If you choose to store your .narrator files using iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or other third-party services, these services may transmit your data according to their own privacy policies. Narrative Path does not access, monitor, or transmit any data stored via these services.

Security

The app runs locally and is sandboxed according to macOS system policies. No external telemetry, analytics, or tracking libraries are embedded. We recommend you follow standard system-level security practices such as:

• Using a strong login password
• Enabling FileVault encryption
• Keeping macOS updated

Compliance

Narrative Path adheres to App Store privacy requirements. It does not collect or transmit personal information or analytics. The only network access occurs when explicitly triggered by you through integrations.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

This policy may be updated as the application evolves. Updates will be published in-app or on the official website. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the current policy.
